Default TMIC question

I'm looking to replace my standard WRX (bugeye) TMIC with a STi TMIC.

Do I need to buy any specific 'STi' parts to go with it, i.e. Y piece, hoses, and undertray, or do the ones from my WRX fit?

Just want to avoid buying a second hand TMIC only to find I'm pieces short!

Many thanks
Richard.

Also - I'm running 310 just now with a VF35 and the standard WRX TMIC. Changing to a TD05 (due to a knackered VF35) - so would a STi TMIC get me to 330? Would the small air scoop on the bugeye get enough air to the STi TMIC?

Cheers
Richard.

I think the WRX one will be fine for about 350

I always thought it was the limiting factor once you get to 310/320 ish.

STi one will get you to nearing 400bhp. You will need the scoop and undertray as well so factor that into your costs.

Ah - might not bother with it then, as can't be bothered looking for a scoop the same colour or having to repaint something.

Thanks for the info.

Cheers
Richard.

Although I am all in favour of FMICs I would not be changing your O/E TMIC at the power level you are at on a Bugeye. If it were a Classic then you would already be beyond the point where you would benefit greatly from lower ACTs.

Cheers Richard. No point spending money needlessly or fixing something that is not broke. If you want to go much beyond 350 bhp on the Bugeye then it is time to start thinking about an FMIC but up to that power area which also involves a turbo change there is not a lot of insentive to go the FMIC route.
The improvement from an STi 8 TMIC will be marginal which is why I would go straight to an FMIC and do the job properly.
The VF35 probably has a small power advantage on the TD05 16G and probably spools the same or marginally quicker than the 05.
We have a new turbo variant for the 380-400 bracket but that is probably more than you need but similar money to a new TD05.
As regards intercoolers, you will find a lot of reading material on the link below but there is factual information towards the end of page 5.
