HELP -- HELP!!!! Plz It's Broken
well wat a ******* day..
theres a fcukin PISTON gone..
so we plan to take the engine out and see if the piston has done any damage and can it be replaced..
or
what ppl?
a.) a new engine?
b.) a new top end?
someone wana tell me where do i go from here and what would be the best thing to do, guide on parts or prices..
i was planning, be4 this *****-up to get a FMIC from Harvey, change the turbo and the fuel pump and the injector and remap and see could i get 400 - 450 Bhp. ...
however i was planning on gettin these parts in stages and then fit them all together later on , i.e. when the turbo or the fuel pump calved etc., so as to spread the cost evenly and not be pissing around taking the engine in and out and stuff, but go figure...
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR, it may bloody well may come true!
(but like what ever happen to those 3 swedish swimsuit models i was...)
anyways any help will be apreciated
Wayne
p.s. leave a message after the beeeeeeeeep & sorry for the ranting and waffling on. im a bit gutted..oh any ya its a JAP IMPORT 1994 GC8 V1 STI

You wouldnt have gotten 400-450 on that engine anyway, 350 would have been the most i would have gone for safely, they are not as strong as the v3 onwards, which are not as strong as the new age engines.
I would have a word with an engine builder, alot depends on how badly damaged the engine is after the piston went.

the coil pack on that side wasnt firing..so thought it had 'bit the dust' so as stated got that sparkin and then the mechanic heard a flat spot.. hes nearly 100% positive its the piston gone

we suspect that the last owners although they set it up on a rollin road never remapped the ECU to UK fuel and therefore it may have burned the piston as not using high enough octane fuel..only a theory but thats what we figure and its as hard to get fuel consistantly here in REP. of Ireland with much more than 95 plus octane boost..

would i be as well to get a V3 Or V4 engine off a low mileage car and just drop it in and be done with it?
oh one last thing i think but not positively sure i have a 4.4.4.4 gearbox ratio.. i should have but seemingly i do..im gona check all this sh1te with my Mechanic to nite? but will this make a difference when lookin for a replacement engine?
cheers

Well first thing is Wayne, no point speculating on what it's gonna cost you in time/money until you've got the engine out to look at the damage. So one way or the other, that needs doing.
You could do a standard rebuild for a few hundred I guess if all you had to do was change one piston. But you can do DIY rebuild with forged Wiseco pistons and Eagle rods reusing your existing crank for a grand. That's leaving the heads alone. I found converting my early WRX heads to STi3/4 was the most expensive part. Without that it could have been a fairly cheap build.
Anyway, as I say, pull the engine first, then decide what to do next.

if you could afford the rewiring cost i would suggest getting the newage engine assembly while retaining your old tranny setup at the moment. you get better risk of buying lower mileage and better engine at the same time. this i what i did to mine and it almost 90% done already. wiring is the only issue that is taking so long to make itrun

would i not be better to get a new block from somewhere and build it up from there..
lets face it low mileage or not 80% of the people who have owned a scooby have drivin the sh1te out of it...it would be like have a super model for a wife and not fcukin the sh1te of her..
just my theory
