Default bumper brake ducts required?

Hi,

i just changed my bumper to a sti6 one from a sti4 one. The big chunk of plasic which is basically a duct i have not put back. Should i?

It seems it fires air into the tyres/brakes, its funnled so i assume to make it faster.

Anyone know if this duct is actually required/benificial?

It sounds like a brake cooling duct. Refit it for sure. Obviously helps keep the disc surfaces cool for more consistent high speed braking i.e. helps keep brake fade at bay. Very worthwhile indeed.

im just not sure if it actually does anything. it fires the air into the bottom of the tyre. I can only imagine it speeds up the air around the tyre, or wokrs when cornering.

Ill have a crack at re-fitting it before my next track day i think. or when i fit some suspension.
