Won't fit your car is 3 pin and as you've pointed out the z4 is 4 pin.
Save up £500+ get an ecutek remap ,yes it's not cheap, but it's your best option imo without changing the ecu.
TD05 is a good turbo but will have a 90deg elbow and yours is front entry so you will need to convert it (my mate has done this and is vey happy with it)

direct bolt on but you will need to take it to a rolling road to get it checked out (fuelling, boost control etc).

I reckon 300bhp (+ fuelling mods etc) would be possible.

to get the most out of it yes but i believe you can run the vf28 on the td04 map (i.e your standard map) BUT you do need to check it out on a rolling road after fitment (knock will be the main problem)

no you'll possibly get 300bhp without a remap and a little more when it's made safe.
imo fit the turbo and get the remap done at the same time because i don't want to **** up your car based on internet advice
