I had similar, but as said, make sure the lambda sensor is up to scratch, they can get tired over time.

Also, and pretty important, ensure the cats are harry red pigs. A longish drive around with some good lengthy blats should help things along.

By how much did it fail (if you know) as this might point out what is at fault.

I have a sports cat on, and it needed to be really hot for it to be of any use to the point where the MOT guy told me to give him ten minutes notice so he was ready with the machine. I had to drive around the trading estate, getting funny looks of everyone while I warmed the cat up. Pain but it passed.

Looking like a new lambda then, just been looking at fail sheet and the CO was .521% over what it should be and the lambda reading should be 0.970-1.030 but it was 1.040, so more bloody expense scooby= money pit
Thanks for advice guys

but a 1.040 lambda is very lean.......so wouldnt you expect that to have better emissions than summat runningn richer?

..and why is there a top limit for the lambda reading...I would have thought that >0.970 would be acceptable?

...guess I dont understand lambda readings so much???

but from the query above you aint gonna be able to tell from the wide band - even if the lambda shows >1.00 the emissions could be out from what was originally posted
...thats now got me worried for my MOT on tuesday ...idle lambda is 1.00 to 1.03, but I have no idea what the emissions will be!!!
