Default engine

there is what looks like a coolant reservior in engine, but its not holding any water. Wanted to post a picture of it but can't seem to be able to do it.
Any ideas what is may be or how i download a picture.

Cheers
Mark.

Use Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket then paste the img tag in your post mate

Is it the header tank in your profile that you are tring to post?? If so then that should be holding you coolant

b13bat is correct - the photos in the OP's profile is of his header tank and as mentioned SHOULD be nearly full of coolant.

Stone cold, the level should be just below the bottom of the raised neck part (for the pressure cap).

The one that runs down the righthand side of the rad is not header as it does NOT have a pressure cap on it, just a plastic clip top. Its for the rad bleed off and if all is ok then it shoud be empty iirc

Cheers for info, thought it was header tank, it seems to be loosing coolant any ideas why and how to rectify. Temperature gauge in car seems to be staying steady. but tank running with just a bit of water in it.
Probably going to have it checked at scooby clinic in Chesterfield.

Thanks...

Reasons are many and varied mate, anything from simple leak on a pipe thru to head gasket failure. Scoobyclinic be your best/safest bet

im confused (ok it doesnt take much) the plastic tank at the right hand side of the rad should not be below min and not above max as the engine throws out the water it doesnt need and then takes it back when cooling down the header tank in the picture looks like it needs replaced as the rust below the cap area could be where its leaking either that or there wasnt enough coolant in the first place i cant stress enough the importance of keeping an eye on these levels as it could be the difference between a minor leak or a fully blown hg get it checked asap.
