Default PISTON RE-USE

Is it ok to re-use original pistons/rings when rebuilding engine, they look fine, apart from needin a clean up, not lookin to go for big BHP, just gonna put an exhaust on & re-map after runnin in.
The car's a ver 6 jdm sti, done around 70k when she started knockin.
My mechanic says they'l be fine but its buggin me a bit as im goin to the exspence of replacin everythin else ?

shouldn't be a problem if they measure up ok including the ring grooves. Best bet is to give them to whoever is honing the block then they will let you know.

Be inclined to fit new rings if the bores are being de-glazed and you are re-using the Standard STi HF Forged pistons.
