Default water out of the exhaust? help

hi guys,

i got a uk turbo 2000 stanard apart from full decat,
i was driving the other day and it decided to over heat
so i pulled over...there was no water in it empty so i fulled it up drive home 1.5 mile i put my foot down it reved to 3,500 rpm and it holded back and sprayed water out of the exhaust got home water was empty?

i found the bottom rad hose is spilt but what would it be to make water come out of the exhaust?

thanks

Head gasket has failed between the water path and cylinder , leaking into engine and coming out of exhaust .

was it definately coming from the exhaust?

a water leak in the engine bay from a hose will spill onto the headers / block and turn to steam. When driving you will see piles of it from behind the car in your rear view mirror, but its just evaporating off in the engine bay.

if it was head gasket it would overheat? i left it running for an hour no over heating and heater hot,no sludge in oil or water....

surely if it was head gasket it would over heat or have sludge stuff in the oil?

well im guessing due to a headgasket (Pressure build up) it blew the bottom hose. You dont always get sludge when the gasket goes. Where about r u based?

If it's not overheating and not loosing water, it's not coming from the engine then? In cold weather exhausts can fill with condensation, could just be that? If it's headgaskets it will pressurise the system and blow the top/bottom hose, burst the side of the rad or burst the header tank, how much water was coming out?

if your that worried about it i'd stop driving it and get it to a garage, if it is a head gasket your more than likely going to be making it worse, there must be someone round your area that will look at an impreza

Im guessing that if you fix the bottom hose she'll pressurise on you and probably blow somewhere else

A compression test and cylinder leakage test will pinpoint the problem.

Could be turbo, that has water from the system circulating round it, from there its back into the system (hose?) or out the other way ie exhaust via turbine (holding back). Best bet get a sniff test, non-invasive and will define whether head gasket or not.

you need to change the bottom hose first of all and then see what happens next but i will argee that its more than likely head gasket although it depends how much water is coming out the exhaust u will get quite a bit in this weather

You will probably find the split hose was your first problem which cause it to over heat and now your head gasket is on its way out. How did you get on?

Off topic but - 'Adam Jackson' Nice name... :-)
