7-8bar is pretty high, circa 5.5-6bar would be more common.

2.5bar is too low, and something, whether it be the gauge/sensor, or engine, isn't right.

Yes to a certain extent......when cold the pressure will be high. However once up to running temps you should be seeing oil pressure as stated above.

Mines 6-7 on cold idle, 2.5-3 on warm idle, 6-7 when driving.
I'd get it checked by the people who re-built it, before it gets very expensive

Under any circumstances, 2.5bar on cruise is too low.

If the gauge is reading correctly, there is something wrong with the build, be it the wrong bearing clearances, a loose oil pump back plate, or something else allowing the oil to bleed internally.

it just sounds like 1 rod rattling? oil pressures are fine on cold idle, but once warmed up i have a reading of 1br. on cruise its at 2.5br?

i built the engine myself, first time ever on a scoob. it drives absolutly spot on? it also gives a little rattle every now and again at around 2.5k RPM? thanks guys

Bearings in the link are standard size which are ok for a standard size crank ( assuming your crank had standard size journals and not been ground in the past) but also depends on much was removed from the main bearing journals when polished - did you check the oil clearance on the mains ?
Big end oil clearance should have been checked also, prior to final build.

thanks for that merlin, ive just looked at my reciept.

own subaru 2ltr crankshaft, polish mains@std and regrind big ends@0.05mm

thats exactly what it says on my reciept? what bearings should i have gotten? there the size he was going to give me, only in dura glide not race series. hence why i got them myself? 52mm journal centre thrust.

thanks guys

Sorry to say it Wayne but if you have fitted standard size big end shells to a 0.05mm undersize big end journal - your oil clearance is going to be approx 0.022" - way too big and might well be the cause of your low oil pressure.
Might also explain the "occasional" big end rattle you get at 2500rpm.

Mick

i know mate. at the end of the day at least i have caught it this time before serious probs(thanks to some of the lads on here)

the car is fine hence the ratlle and low oil pressure. drives spot on!
its all experiance 2, should be out and stripped in a day this time

so i have a few qeustions?

1. what size bearing would i need?(main + bigend)
2. can i reuse the head gaskets and bolts?(only done maybe 30miles)
3. can i reuse timing belt? (same again only 30miles)

thanks boys

IMHO - i would not use a re-ground crank - go buy yourself a new center thrust crank and standard size bearings.
Cam belt and head bolts can be reused - bit of a lottery reusing the head gaskets as they are already "crushed" down.

thanks merlin. the head gaskets are from roger clark, there the 1.6mm steel gaskets, there solid.

if i decide to keep the re-ground crank, is it possible to get it re-hardened?

were would i get it done?
at what cost?

thankyou

By the time you have had it re-hardened / straightened and polished, you might as well get a new crank to be honest.
You would need big end bearings to suit a 51.950mm big end journal if it has been ground 0.50mm undersize.
