Default Mirror Glass Removal??

Does anyone know how to remove the mirror glass from a bugeye. Ive tried just gently popping it out but just sounds like something is going to snap. If all else fails im gonna hit the effing thing with a hammer

I do not think you can. I have tried and can't. The glass is put in last. With glue I think.
Why do you want to take the glass out.

This is based on Subaru's instructions for an 06 model, but I should imagine it's the same for the bugeye. The mirror's held in with double sided tape I think. You should warm the edges of the mirror housing with a hair dryer for a few minutes until it softens up, then use a flat tipped screwdriver to lift the mirror out. Unless the holder edges are softened enough you're likely to crack either the holder surround or the glass - probably the sound you can hear.

Boiling water works well too.

I had the same problem - no hair, and no live-in lady! I like the water idea, was thinking of using that to replace the smashed glass in my n/s mirror. Sadly some ****** has just tonight, ironically, smashed both mirrors entirely off my car, so it's a trip to the dealer for complete new units. Ouch!
