I take off the turbo water hose that feeds back into the header tank. Fill the coolant through there.
Also, take off the top rad hose until the water appears at both the rad AND top hose. Take your time to do this and you should be fine.
Any cooling problems should be dealt with with a new thermostat and rad cap.

right guys, i have tryed the bleeding. all the system filled up as it should, i still have a problem.
1. the heater matrix pipes are still cold.
2. bottom hose on rad still cold.
3. heaters still blow constant cold.
4. its still bubbling over.
5. temp gauge still get hot.
starting to think its a blockage? i put tissue in the bottomend were the cross over pipe fits, to stop bolts and so on falling into it. not 100% sure i removed both pieces of tissue
surely it cant be head as ive just replace em.
thankyou

thankyou guys, after some scratching of the head and what not i have a bit of luck. checked all the hoses today for blockages, all was clear. i then thought to my self the stat(even tho it was fine before the build)
so i took it out and filled a jug with boiling hot water and lowered it in. it opened really really slowly, i left it to cool down and checked again. This time it open about 1mm all the round and tht was it? so i left it out, put all hoses bk on and run upto temp. It didnt over heat
HOWEVER i still only have cold air so i have 3 problems now can you help????
1. the heaters blowin cold?
2. how the hell do i bleed the bloody clutch on this thing?
3. what should my oil pressure be on tick over? (1997 import sti)
thankyou guys

1.Without the stat the water and engine wont reach its proper running temp as you have removed the restrictor that controls it. If it was overheating it was probably because of the stat sticking. Put a new stat in (about £30 from dealer) refill slowly as detailed above and I would say you will get warm air inside.
2. Bleeding the clutch either a 2 man job (1 to pump pedal 1 to open/close bleed nipple) or if you have a one-way bleed valve you can DIY. Fresh fluid in, open nipple, depress pedal and hold down, close valve then release pedal. You need to keep repeating until fluid runs clean.
3. Sorry no idea.

What happens when your bleeding clutch? If your not getting any pedal pressure are you using the right bleed nipple? Im fairly sure there is one at the bottom end at the gearbox.

Yes the slave cylinder at the gearbox bellhousing below the intercooler.
If your not getting fluid out and it wont bleed the only other things I could think of are the cylinder seals gone? Are you geting any pedal pressure?

yes i do get some pedal pressure but not much travel? if i lift the pedal all the way to the top i can press it it to the floor and it stays there? HOWEVER if i pull the peddle to half way up and then pump it i get a peddle not much but its there, if i let the peddle go bk up to the top i can push it down and it stays there again? (if that makes sense )
also i have tryed 2 men bleeding(pumping peddle) and also gravity bleeding? there seems to be no air in there.
