I changed my wrx TMIC for a process west unit, and noticed an immediate difference - car seemed to breath more freely and spool better. I'd expect the same from the STi unit, though perhaps to a lesser extent. For maximum benefit though you'd want an under-bonnet shroud to suit the intercooler you fit - no point fitting a bigger IC if the standard shroud only pushes air to the same area as the old one - and a remap. Didn't remap mine when I put the IC in: I'm saving up for a new turbo so I'll remap then. Still enjoying the improvement though!!

Thanks daijones. I didn't think as far as having to change the under bonnet shroud to fit ic. I am also hoping to change turbo as an when penny's come in. What turbo are u going for?

Best to buy bonnet scoop and undertray together- japperformanceparts are always worth an ask- they may have a good used STI intercooler in stock as well. VF34/VF35 Turbo's are a next step for a WRX if it's a newage that is

Aye, VF34 for me. To be honest, I just do what the tuner tells me!

Jim, you don't tell what MY you have,
a STi7- IC is an upgrade for any wrx, but if you have a newage I doubt it's worth it as they are quite dear.
If you have a classic both a newage wrx and of course even more so the STi7- are a big step. If you're planning to change the turbo....
For classics if you change the ic, change both undertray and preferably also the scoop.

I had mine done using STi intercooler. 2nd hand. New bonnet scoop from Subaru and new undertray. Very expensive, but i was not paying for what i thought would be an inferior scoop or undertray from anywhere else.
I already had the VF34 on the car, but was mapped on the 03 WRX intercooler by someone. After i had the work done and then had Bob Rawle map the car, i finally came away with a smile on my face!
Well worth it for me, BUT, maybe it would have been anyway had i just had Bob map it before????? Placebo effect??? I dunno, LOL, i am just being honest here.
