Default V3 STi Engine

Hopefully this is the correct section

I have just bought a V3 STi wagon. It is going in full a dyno and full checkup (just for peice of mind) this weekend.

What sort of power is safe (obviously realise that there are risks, etc) for this engine? Where is the best place to start (assuming car is completely stock?

Thanks in advance.

Std, v.3-6 Sti Wagon is 280PS or 276bhp. Normally, the EJ20 motor will fall within about upto 5% of that figure either side - i.e. you could be up, but you could be down a bit, equally...

If car is std then expect the dyno figure (at the flywheel) to be anywhere between about 265 and 290bhp (lets hope nearer the latter figure eh? ).

Cheers

No induction mods and only a backbox on the exhaust. If I can have 280 I will be a happy chappy!

What sort of power levels can the standard engine run, safely?

For some strange reason didn't the Ver III STi wagon have a higher compression ratio than the corresponding saloon and differing outputs

Not a clue, but a good question!

I am now quite excited to see what the results are!

the v3 sti wagon used the same 6S ecu fitted to the v3 sti saloon so the compression ratio will be the same.

Jonny

You are right I was thinking about the MY99 WRX wagon which had a 9:1 compression ratio compared to the saloon WRX which had a 8:1 compression ratio.

I think I've got the right model this time LOL

Well guys, AFR Tuning have checked the car over, and found nothing wrong with car (couple of minor issues, but nothing serious)........

Result -> 306.8bhp at the fly

I am happy!!!
