Default Which bits are forged?

Which parts in the engine are forged on a Version 8 STI?

And then which parts need uprating when you go for big power?

Not sure any are. Your pistons possibly, rods are the same across all models.

Big power, you'll need rods, pistons and ACL bearings. The OEM crank will be fine.

But there's more to big power than engine internals. Adequate fueling, cooling turbo etc.

Oh right, for some reason I thought some parts were forged.

Think I'm getting out my depth knowledge wise when it comes to cooling the turbo etc.

My next additions to the car is turbo, FMIC, and bigger injectors (and another remap). I've got the FMIC and just bought the injectors, so next will be the turbo purchase.....and book in for remap.

After that, I wouldn't know what to do to be honest......

My advise is to stick with bolt on mods at 400/400 and you'll have a very nice reliable car.

Think I'll be around 400 when those three mods ^^ go on, along with my current mods.

Should maybe get ported headers as well......?

I had a feeling they might of been but wasn't sure.

Defo ok for 400/400 in that case.

but is it driven with that power all the time or do you, have different maps? if you do then to say its ok at 464/394 is a little bit optimistic?

What parts are you planning to fit?

I am in the process of fine tuning my setup it made 400/375 two weeks ago with a few small leaks from the headers & wastegate was not closing properly, as soon as i get the headers changed i will be getting the map rechecked.

Harry,
I've current got:
3" Full de-catted Stainless Exhaust, including up and down pipe
K&N Cold Air Intake
Walbro Fuel Pump
HKS Fuel Pressure Regulator
ECUTek Remap by Scoobyclinic
Dump Valve
GFB Quick Shift

And will be fitting a FMIC, 750cc Injectors, and probably a MD321T, then a remap from JGM.
Wasn't going to get headers, but reading up on them I may have to, to get a good response from the car?

Thanks
Chris

Not response, but more mid to top end power/torque.

I did get "headers" and love the noisy/aggressive sound the engine makes as it kicks hard.

Big kid really !

hehe, yeah I like noises as well.

Should I really get headers then while I'm fitting the above, or is it an 'optional extra' so to speak? lol

the car is a toy.

yes it does have different maps, one for v power & one for 10% methanol mix, but i dont bother with the v power map.

The car has been used for drag racing this year with good results, so does get abused.

Which bits do people buy when going 'forged' then? Do people change the big end bearings etc while at it? What else do you do while the engine is out?

Thanks
