Default Hesitation when flooring it. Help!!

Hi all. I have a 1999 impreza turbo 2000. Recently it has started to hesitate intermitantly, when under full throttle (more so when cold). I have done a fault code check and there were no codes. I have had a brief inspection under the bonnet and cant see anything disconnected or rubbed thru. Has anyone else had this problem and know what it might be or does anyone have any suggestions other then a gallon of petrol and a match!!!

Cheers

Might be over boosting, as the boost solinoid might just need a clean with some carb cleaner, see if this works. All it is, is some oil gets in the pipes.
Other then that check any pipes arent kinked.

Please note the car shouldn't overboost as standard - unless it's missing the restrictor pill. Please search for 'restrictor pill' on here to learn more.

Why are you giving it full throttle when the engine is cold?

On MY99/00 model years, they have a setting for emissions, if you hold second gear too long it knocks into this mode so you can pass the emissions test, its like hesitation but actually a part of the ecu program

**** me m8 the fact that your running on full boost with a cold engine is not helping in any way..I would stop doing this for a start otherwise you will need them matches and a gallon of petrol pritty soon.Keep off the boost until the engine/oil is warm and up to temprature, otherwise youll **** your pistons up and whole number of things.

Well in the 9 years i have been on this board and the fact i am now on my 3rd subaru in that time....
Its actually a true statement.
Having owned an MY00 from new to dec 03, it too suffered minor hesitation, it also suffered the 2nd gear emissions test mode, then i had her ppp'd and that cured the hesitation

I too have a MY00 and can confirm there is some sort of boost restriction in 2nd gear.

Is it like a very small "hiccup"? Or a really violent termination of power?
Small hiccup could be just plugs (mine is doing it at the moment, I read somewhere that extra compression caused on high boost blows the spark out if they're worn???), if it's really violent it's probably fuel cut due to overboost. Either that or what Tony Says....
