Default Blitz Nur Spec R

Does anyone run with the bung fitted?

I have been testing both ways and I am 99% sure without it in the car feels faster and picks up quicker through the gears.

I wondered if anyone had any conclusive proof eg. on the rollers with and without.

Sometimes it's just too loud and does my head in so I keep it in for a week orso

NB Standard P1 with Sti filter.

My brother used to run with a bung from time to time and defo said there was quite a difference with the bung out.

Basically your a restricting the speed at which the exhaust gases are escaping thus increasing exhaust gas back pressure.

Which in essence is against the very nature of turbos are you want the absolute minimum back pressure after the turbo.

It does say (on the Blitz sites) that the bung restricts the performance, it is supplied so the exhaust conforms with jap noise standards...

I've been curious about this too...I put the Nur Spec on my Sti Type R and I actually thought the opposite...I thought it picked up quicker with the bung in!!! ...I could be wrong though!!
Would be very interested to know if any dyno tests had been done..

So, if you fit the bung in the Nur Spec R, it becomes faster and louder?

I may fit 2 bungs in mine then.

Mine was stipped out with no sound proofing. Whenever I put the bung in the car was undoubtedly slower and seemed alot louder in the car.

It was quieter out of the car but I would never let anyone else drive it lol

The bungs mae the sound a bit louder inside the car but a hell of a alot quieter outside,

I was suprised how loud mine was when I got out with the car running just out of curiosity, its a bit OTT imo

The bung definately causes you to loose some performance, mines on a shelf in the garage and there it shall stay, buger the neighbours, they dont think about me when they let the dog bark at midnight or shout at each other in the street at 2am so im not quietening my scooby down for them either

I wish that were the same, its deafening in the back of mine!
Its the bass that gets to me sometimes, driving to and from work and a big headache when I get home.

Bung out: Better low down torque, bottom end.
Bung in: Better pulling at the top end at higher speeds.

Thats what I found anyway, absolutely no proof, but there you go.

I've only had the bung in my Nur Spec once.

My exhaust didn't like it and spat it out at the SSO in 2007
