Default 2008 STI PROBLEMS

can anyone shed any light on a few problems with my car. firstly just before christmas performance just fell away like flicking a switch no lights on dashboard in sport sharp mode it is more like sport mode.next problems getting a knocking noise from rear passenger side when turning sharp left in first or second gear sounds like exhaust banging but will not do this when turning right.
car went in for 10k service yesterday went to pick up today and performance is still the same tech said flashed the ecu and checked for faults before hand but there was nothing. all parameters were how they should be.on the drive with the tech to show how bad the performance was on dual carraigeway doing 70mph car started shaking violently my thought was that a wheel had come loose.put car in neutral and rolled to a stop we jumped out and checked wheels but all was fine tech thinks the rear diff locked up.started car up and drove off all seamed fine so left the car with them to investagate.

Hi there
Iv been hearing that there two big faults with the new 08 sti

first one was some of the first sti needed and remap on them because if it was not don before the vehicle was ever redlined it could damge numder 4 piston.
this would set the knock sensor so the power would lack of power but there no missfire.

other faults was with some of the 330 but this may be them with sti was
the boost control valve are faulty you would be driveing were you would go from Sport to sport shap there would be bang and the engine ligth would be on and the vehicle feel like in sport all the time.

hope this could help you

It would number 3 piston, not number 4. Number three sits closest to the turbo and such will run a little hotter than the others.

It is also the last piston to receive its fuel due to the way the injectors are plumbed on Imprezas. They are fed in series so any flucuations will be felt most on this cylinder.
