Can anyone help?????? I hope so

I am sick of driving down the road and finding the checki engine light coming on.

I have a 93 WRX import which is in excellent condition..(touch wood!!)
After having the car for nearly two years the only problem I have come across is this light keep displaying and a very small power steering leak.
I have read about possibilities why this light will display but so far none seem to match up.
The light doesnt flash it comes on and if the clutch is depressed for maybe a second it goes straight back off again????? Could this be to do with the power steering leak??? Pressures etc?
The annoying thing is it seems to come on at the same bit of road!!! lol ie driving back from work comes on a same piece of road slight corner going down little bank - could this have anything to do with it? or is it me just getting paranoid!!lol
Anyway any advice would be appreciated

Thanx in advance

If you wrote "I am sick of the car telling me that a critical sensor is begining to fail and the car will, very shortly, leave me stranded, miles from anywhere, in an area with no mobile signal, on a cold wet night..." would you think about it a different way?

Do a flash test on the ECU, or take it to someone with a Select Monitor and find out exactly what is causing the CEL to come on. Although the car seems OK to you, something is not right.

Mine came on on saturday at the chesterfield rolling road day!!!!

Still ran fine....managed to get it checked on a diagnostic plug in thing (at a main dealer even though its an STI import!!!) and it came up with a fault code. appears the oxy sensor had failed. new one to be fitted tomorrow(friday)

Dont know who can check yours if its an import in your area....which is?????

Try Gilesgate in Hexham, or Petch in Richmond, both are main dealers, but i know Petch has done work on imports before so may be worth a try, failing that try John Pye in Bishop Auckland, he builds rally scoobs for use in the British championships and relly knows his stuff

Good luck....manny

John Pye's number is 01388 661107 and his is at Tindale crescent just along from kwiksave on the roundabout, i have used him when my dealer didn't have a clue what was up with my car, he diagnosed bent valves and replaced the lot for reasonable money, give him a bell.
