well here's wat hapened:
i connected the black, and green, put engine on (but didnt start it)
then press pedal etc then halfway,, no cel flash...
thought to disconnect the battery bt i didnt have any tools on me and it was gettin dark, so i left it and took the connectors out...
CEL gone. bt am sure it will come back when i push it a above 5k a few times.. am going to API on thursday, Ill ask them to have a look

If it returns then it will be your speedo ...basically your speedo will be sending a pulse to the ECU & this is how the ECU restricts imports to 112mph, if the speedo is failing to send this pulse the ECU throws up the CEL & restricts revs to 5K iirc
I might be able to source you just a speedo if it has gone (you'll be able to swap odometer's over & keep your mileage) ...be a lot cheaper than a whole dash pod

Does your speedo work?
On an early car, there is no speed sensor like in the picture above - The clocks are driven directly off the gearbox by a cable. The clocks then feed a pulsed electrical signal to the ecu.
If the speedo doesn't read, then one of the 2 halfs of the cable will be broken.
If the speedo works correctly then you either have a wiring problem between the clocks and ecu, or the clocks are faulty.
I can take a look when sorting out your wheel bearing problem

am going to API on thursday and will get them to put a converter aswell as i'm there.. will ask them to check the speedo as they're on it...
will contact u as soon as i get the bearing...
