Default speedo/cel light

hi i need some help berfore i spend some money
my speedo has stopped working and the engine check light has come on and is in limp home mode.

i have removed the speedo clocks and checked the speedo cable/mph converter which seem ok.
when i spin it buy hand the disc thing which looks like a magnet does not spin the one in side connected to the dial needle thus not moving the needle?
hope this make sense.

Your clock should work with or without the converter fitted

To test your clock is working is pretty easy ...attach a cordless screwdriver/ drill) to the back of it (be careful what 'bit' you use & be careful with the drill speed to avoid damaging the clock) & see if it moves

Repeat this with your converter connected to the clock to test the converter

& then finally attach the cable to the back of the clock & disconnect it at the gearbox end & attach the drill (you'll need to get under the car & get a mate to see if the speedo is moving ...& it's a PITA to refit!)
