Default antifreeze

hi there im changing all my radiator pipes tomorrow to nice new red 1s as im changing the pipes i need to put in new antifreeze n water what antifreeze do i need or what is best?

it needs to be safe for use in alloy engines.

My dealer told me it was not important what antifreeze I use in my classic. I then done a little research of my own and found this. So I guess it is quite important after all.

ok thanks i will have to pop down my local dealer tomorrow and get sum from them does an1 know how much i need and how much this is from subaru?

IIRC I think the coolant system's capacity is over 7 litres , so buy 4 litres of coolant for a c.50/50 mix., which will be more than adequate.

Is it possible to use antifreeze that you use for screenwash as coolant when mixed with water.

right i went to my local subaru garage and picked up there anti freeze which is actually made by shell. 3 litres of anti freeze and 4 litres of de-ionised water they told me it werent a bad price either £4.49 for a litre so all sorted cheers guys

nothin like trying to sell there own product. how many times have you heard a manufacturer sayin you can't use anythin but there product. its all a marketing scam that makes you think oh god i have to buy there anti freeze.

well and truely sucked in by lots of chemical nonsense.

Yeah, it really don't matter which brand... so long as it has 'Ethylene Glycol' written on the pack (which virtually all do anyway).
