Default car runs rough over 90 mph

hi guys,

i am looking for abit of help please, i have a 2001 UK bugeye, when accelerating normal / hard the car pulls really strong and smooth, the car idles smooth aswell with no lumpy idle, the problem i have is when i am pushing the car on my private test track of course, the car starts to hold back and sounds like its misfireing ? if i accelerate over 90 mph it all starts to feel wrong ? lol

i have a turbo back 3" zorst, ecutek remap, k&n typhoon kit fitted and a walbro fuel pump , the exhaust is VERY loud and it may be this that is making the drone / misfire noise, but it does not make sense as to why the car is holding back and feels abit jerky. i always use bp ultimate or other 97 ron fuel. could it be a faulty maf sensor ? but would that make it run rough ?

Any ideas guys would be appreciated

Could be coilpack, plugs, ht leads. Mine did the same recently but over 60mph on hard load. Ended up being slight corrosion in one of the HT leads plus the plugs hadn't been changed when they should of. I also did not see any CEL.

Does it accelerate smoothly throughout the rev range to the redline?

I'd say plugs, leads, etc too.

Had similar problem, turned out to be the dump valve. Wen tback to the standard one and problem vanished.

the car does run smooth, but it does feel like its holding back after 5-6 k upto redline ....

dont think its the remap as its been on the car since december 2007 and the car has ran fine with it ...

so should i change ht leads and spark plugs first or get the coilpack done at same time ?

i have read the dumpvalve issues on here and i have a baileys one on mine, maybe this too

thanks for all ur input guys.

at 90 MPH there will be precious little air getting to the intercooler, for any length of time this will raise the charge temps and the car will run lean and det

It may just be the ECU trying to protect itself ?

Just a thought as you have no CELS showing.
