coolant/heater issues
hi there,
i have a 1994 wrx and im having a couple of problems with the heating system, the car heats up normally and stays dead on half way on the temp guage,but.. the heater is either hot or cold, nothing inbetween, then after about 30 mins,it works normally.
just checked the coolant level and it was normal but the bottom rad hose is cold. is this a thermostat issue?
thought it might be an airlock so i revved the engine with the header tank cap off,the water level goes down and bubbles occasionally but as soon as the revs goto tickover the water level goes up and spills over the top.
please help,im very confused!!

u may have a broke thermostat. so itermittatly works. take it out and oput it in boiling water, see if the diaphram works properly. or for price of them fit new 1.
but, when its not hot or cold, is it actually blowing. or doesnt it work at all, then will kick in. thinking electrical issue?

start with thermostat. cheapest option, if no joy, id drain system and flush it all through, rads, heater matrix etc. then fill it up and alow it to run with cap of filler tank. help clear the air. then fit cap, go 4 a 2 - 3 mile run, get the circulation going and check water level. top up if necessary. see if that helps.
