Default ideling question

my car as started to suffer from idel problem only from cold start up once warm runs fine , starts up first turn every time goes up to about 2000rpm and then starts to lower and raise again which seems to be almost flooding car to a stall any thoughts guys is it idel control valve .or coolant sensor maybe where do i start to look car is 1995 import saloon standard apart from dump valve and green panel filter but was running fine before with this setup..

dump valve could be leaking.. if you have the orignal might be worth a swap to check..

otherwise sounds like coolant temp.. the idle valve is unlikely to make the revs go up and down from the ones I have seen that go faulty.. it either sticks at an openning and therefore you get too high or two low idle etc..

Ensure your coolant is topped up and system is re-circulating once hot.....this will ensure there's no air lock within the system itself..... i had a air lock in mine and the issue was the same as yours.....

cheers guys advice took on board will check car seems to drive as normal once reach normal temp

good call on the coolant level.. years ago when I used the play with mk1 mr2's they lose any water and the idle jumps from normal to 1500rpm like you are blipping the throttle.. highly amusing.. and no one believes the solution

ok guys just been out done a error code check all seems fine no codes so reset ecu and i will start on your advice thanks again

by the way where will i find coolant temp sensor on mine its a 1995 wrx import l reg , is it under the air pipe near the turbo does air pip have to come off to see it ,,,
