i need to find out
1) where to get one
2) are they easy to fit
i have a 95 uk classic, and need to fit one from a 97on as i want my boost raised. but dont really know much about them.
will one from a 97 on work and the earlyer classic once plumbed in.
and have anyone got a diagram showing how if fit.
any info will be welcomed

I think the MY97/98 one is rated at 2.5bar, so you can run c.1.4-1.45bar of boost. The MY99/00 one is, I think, 2.8bar, so max boost can be 1.7-1.75bar (it could be 2.7bar though , so 1.6-1.65bar boost). PM Jolly Green Monster for definite spec...
I think they are a straightforward swap... BUT... they need to be rescaled because their output voltages are different. So ideally only get it actually fitted on the day of the remap i.e. get the mapper to fit it just prior to mapping the car.

Get in touch with your mapper. I would have thought you would need to have it mapped after installing the map sensor.

Apexi has it's own boost control kit which includes a map sensor.. the calibration in the L jetro powerfc which is the only one available for the impreza (other makes have the d jetro whcih is map based and no maf) is not changeable except between standard sensor and boost control kit sensor..
this is only really valid on the 96 and earlier as the map sensor tops out at 1.23bar and you cannot run much boost on it.. therefore on the early car you need another form of boost control or map sensor.
due to the calibration if you fit the newer sensor from the 97 on the calibration is about 0.6bar out from memory which is not ideal.
the esl, simtek etc allow you to alter the map sensor settings and therefore no problem.

When I fit it, instead of cutting off the existing connection for the OEM MAP, is it okay to still retain the connectors by, instead, tapping into the wiring and connecting the Apexi BCK (so there are both connections present), but leaving it 'turned off' on the Commander (until the other mods are fitted and the remap is being done - in which case the OEM MAP would be unplugged).
It would be okay to do this, right (I don't llike the idea of getting rid of the OEM MAP's connection - I'd like to still retain it)?
Cheers
P.S. Sorry for the thread hijack (but it is still, sort of, on topic )

any info is good.
has any one got a diagram for the wiring of the map senser.
just so i can see how to do it, are there 3 or 2 wires, and the same for the earlyer classic.

you have two choices on the boost solenoid front.. stick with your current 3port boost solenoid.. or swap to the apexi one.. both work very well and I would take the other one off your hands and give you folding for it as I am always needing them..
It is easy to remove the pins from the plug on the apexi boost solenoid if fitting it and push the pins into the original loom plug and therefore not alter the wiring.. you can swap to the apexi one now if you like as the boost control using either should be very little difference between them.

if i can get a map senser from a 97 on, with the conecting wiring.
as i have two standard map sensers, i can have one ready for you. would then only take me a min or 2 to swop them over.
do they both have the same colured wires.
i know the voltage is different.
also, will this board adapt a set of 550cc injectors.
as with in the next year or so. im thinking of upgrading to a bigger turbo and injectors.
can you rescale the esl board.
i bet you will be glad once all done....

wiring colours are different and I cannot remember off the top of my head the wiring connections.. but have it written down.
yes the esl board is configurable for any injector changes etc..

When I do this, presumably I need to invoke it by switching it on in the Commander's menu option?
How much, then, would my existing OEM 3-port be worth to you?

Simon, so changing over to the Apexi BCS plus it's own MAP sensor (and plugging the MAP into the Apexi, etc.) will be fine to do as my car stands at the moment?

thats great, what i'll do. is have the 97 onward ready to be plugged in for you. i have 2 of the older ones, so chopping that one up will be no probs. then its just a case of your self mapping it up
thanks again
