Default IDLE ISSUES

Hi, I have a STI v3 and tickover seems to have started going abit **** up. Just swapped the AFM and reset ecu and things seemed better for about 60 km.

Tickover raised to around 1500 and without altering the ICV (already cleaned) I cant understand why its gone up. MPG seems to have dropped and ECU error codes gave me a MAF circuit error.

Any ideas as to my next port of call ? do I just bite the bullet and pay the money to go to a specialist.

Better safe than sorry, if its a maf problem and you keep on running the car, 70+ quid will work out to be 2.5k quid, its down to you really

Did you reset the ecu after changing the MAF?

When my TPS failed it gave a similar problem - bloody expensive for a bit of plastic and brass!

update...

Ecu was reset after installing new MAF, After driving the car and idle still being high ECU code 23 (maf circuit) is there again.

What other problems would/could cause the MAF circuit to give a fault code eg air leak ect...

Any pointers recieved with thanks.

Don't know if you can check theTPS, it really is just a simple gadget internally. Zen diagnosed mine as it came up as the relevant fault code so I guess if yours isn't giving that it must be OK?

Might be worth popping into a specialist for a clear diagnosis?

Think you might be right Marin, will have to get it checked over to be safe.
