Default BOV PIPE

Hello this might be a silly question but hear goes.
Is it safe to take the pipe of the standard my99 bov so it ventilated not going back to the air intake.
thanks.

Can't see it being a problem. Just make sure you blank off air intake port to the turbo intake hose. Also, in doing this, it might cause overfueling for about a second when coming off boost (might get some nice pops and and bangs on the overrun)

Why do you want to do it? Are you wanting the psssst noise?

Default Judder !

Mine did after a Tractive re-map, just ease off the throttle gently, and it's fine !

P.S. Another option is to add a huge turbo and re-map, tho' I couldn't possibly suggest it as cost effective !

Hi ukscooby2000: I had the exact same judder with my 06 STi and FMIC. Went back to OEM TMIC and judder gone, car much more responsive. Best reverse mod I ever did.

Yeah, but the Tuner guy would not tell me why. Must be the long piping runs. If one does FMIC I think the turbo should be moved to the front. I prefer TMIC for responsiveness any day and my next upgrade will be an APS Ozzie TMIC.

My theory was that the volume of the pipework damped the pressure spike when you shut the throttle, so the DV didn't open, the pipes act like a huge "spring" and the air-flow through the MAF reverses... cutting the fuel off.

I learnt to be smootther in rolling off the throttle.

P.S. A large TMIC just sits and gets fried by the turbo, don't bother... Yatesy fitted an APS TMIC and it detted on the road, but was fine with a std. STI TMIC.

A softer spring "should" help, but may leak under full boost !
