Default ECU reset on newage with EcuTek license

Guys,

Sorry to be a pain. I think I need to reset my ECU quick.

My car is playing up a little for some unknown reason. Had a slight problem on Sunday evening but put that down to me being a retard. But last night on the way to the SIDC meet at the Ace Cafe it did the following.

(1) Was not boosting correctly and then when on boost and after gear change was boost still causing the car to become jumpy so to speak.
(2) Rev's were hunting at a stand still at traffic lights going from 806rpm down to 566rpm and back up to 710rpm then back down to 566rpm and up to 806/807rpm.
On the way home it struggled to boost and when it did had a loads at the wrong time (when lefting off).

I've checked for loose pipes and ran a ECU fault code check but nothing.
(Do not have a VTA before you ask )

Back to my point. Is there a manual reset by turning the key in the ignition (not running the engine) x5 and then waiting 10 secs before starting the engine? I have a Ecutek license mapped by the legend JGM but don't want to badger him at such an hour of the day.

I was going to take the connections off the bat but I am at work with no tools so cannot do that.

Please help.

Steve

Steve looks like it has to be done via the OBD port, so no quick fix here im afraid.

Read here.

MAF sensor (probably). Drive it carefully until you get it fixed....

Hi guys, sorry for the late reply.

Cheers Mel for that link. I've got my scangauge plugged in full time to the OBD port. But still isn't coming up with anything.

Coffin Dodger, I may take it out and give it a clean. I've niot changed anything but the air was damp so it's possible some moisture got in there for some reason?

JGM, my lover I am on a recirc (Forge) DV. Haven't used the VTA following your advice.

Cheers guys.

Sorry but you seem to be unable to see the wood for the trees.
You had the exact problem with a forge vta dv, you changed to a forge recirc and it was fine for a bit.
It is now the same as the spring is to weak in the dv.
Forge stuff looks good but imho is ****.
Try adding shims or stronger spring

Si,

A bit baffled by that mate?

Can you change the springs on the Forge recircs then? If so I am guessing a red spring (from memory) maybe best suited.

I'll have a look at the MAF also squire.

I am remembering right Steve?

it did as it is now.. you changed the dv and it was fine and has over a period of time returned to the same?

I can't remember the spring colours.. yes you can change the springs in the recirc... you can also just add shims etc

Si,

Sorry for the late reply fella. Zed has only just returned to the pawn shop to let me out. lol

Pretty much mate yes. Last time I had the issue was with the Forge VTA. I met you to tweak it and the problem went away. When I met for that tweak, you prior to that day told me to ditch the VTA for a recirc. I had the recirc with me to fit ready for the tweak but it didn't come with the shoulder joint to make it a recirc. You advised me to change it following your tweak and nipple clamps anywayvas it was only noise etc.

A couple of days after the tweak I changed to recirc. Had no problems with the recirc at all and liek I told you at SRR I think the car seems smoother with it on. I had the recirc on the other week when I met you at SRR for a power run and to check all was ok etc. On the rollers and on the way home it was fine mate.

I haven't had a chance to strip it yet but will do it during the week mate. Will call Forge and see what spring they suggest as well. I've got some bits from forge in the past so have an extra shim and spring but not sure on colour the spring is?

Hope that makes sense mate?

Why not just fit the standard re-circ valve , these work perfectly fine .

I agree with Mark. The standard dv is perfect and runs fine into the late 400's.

I had a forge recirc and had problems, even changing shims and springs couldn't correct the problems. Switched back to the standard one and all was fine.

Had a VTA on the car when i bought it ,car just did not run right ,swapped to standard and car runs a lot better and faster don't know why people change them ? Not worth it just for a noise .
