Default classic cutting power ar 4500rpm? help please

Hi guys, joined your forum recently, what a great site! well done.
my 98' wrx classic is cutting power at anything above 4.5k revs. the 'check engine' light has come on also, does anyone know how to reset this? ive also noticed that you speedo has stopped working, could this have anything to do with the fault?
Cheers in advance.

yes.. no speedo and the ecu will cut the rpm at 4500rpm.

you can check the error codes as explained on my website but 100% sure it will be code 33 - vehicle speed sensor

not 100% sure it is still cable on the 98..

if it is cable you will see it look at gearbox from the turbo.. if it is not cable then I would suspect a km to mph converter fitting and has gone faulty..
