Default fitting a mk1 engine into a mk2

Hi. I've got an R reg mk2 with a knacked engine and have brought an L reg mk1 and was wondering how hard it's gonna be to change the engines over and what roughly will need to be changed. From what I know i've got to change the inlet manifold and turbo but was wondering what else. Any advise would be great. Cheers Michael

basically just strip it down to just the block and heads with cambelt covers and sump etc still on and then fit the bits off your engine.. however the heads are very different in both flow and cam profile.. the ecu will need looking at or at least the fuelling checked and check for det once installed.

The alternative maybe to use your heads.. but lots morte work involve with the swap then.. you would be better off getting a 97/98 engine

I've actually got the ECU withthe Mk1 engine so would it be better to plug that one into the Mk2 car? Also is that possible? i've been told it is but not sure myself. Thanks again
