water pump advice urgant please

Default water pump advice urgant please

im building my 2.5 project up and im just about to put a rogerclark water pump on but dont know if i should use the paper type gasket that came with it or use sealant that i am using on my engine build any help would be great

my water pump came with a metal gasket

prob best using a good sealer and not cheap stuff

thanks for that, mine came with paper type gasket and a rubber bit for the side and rubber ring for the thermostat, just thought i would get some opinions as i dont want to fit it and have it leak thats why i thought of just using sealer and not the gasket as my sealer is a good make a not a cheap one and sayes it can be used on all parts including water parts

yeah just make sure you put enough on to make a good seal and you cant go wrong

Any more opinions on this? The manual says just the gasket with a two stage tightening procedure. But seeing as I'm about to have to do this and it looks like half a day's work just to fix a tiny leak on the back of the pump, I don't want there to be any possibility that it will leak once everything's back together again. How about gasket AND sealant?

wont hurt it, do it all the time in work on vauxhall engines, just be presise with sealant, dont want it being expaned into pump

OK well I'll do it then. As you say, it can't hurt and at least it's an extra line of defence!
