Default Tyre replacement?

Morning all.

I've got a slow puncture on my front right tyre. I took it in to get it fixed but the tyre had a worn area on the inside of the tyre and the bloke refused to puncture repair it. Fair enough.

I guess I should replace the tyre but I remember reading something about how with Scoobies you should avoid replacing just one tyre. Something to do with rolling radii and its effects on the 4WD system.

Is this boll*cks or what?

I'm currently running 215/40/17 and fancied trying 205/45/17 instead anyway so it wouldn't be the biggest nightmare to get them all changed but there's still quite a bit of meat on the 3 good tyres and it seems a shame to bin them.

I don't think it'll be ideal, as the wheel with the 205/45 tyre on will have a rolling circumference of 1.5" more than the wheel with the 215/40 tyre on... I'm sure this isn't good for the rear and centre diffs .

IMHO, keep things simple, pay a little extra for a single 215/40 tyre, and not worry...
