Default Noisey engine on start up

Hi Guys,
As this is my forst Impreza I'm not sure what it's meant to sound like when cold in the mornings. It's an 05 wrx with 35k on the clock. When I start it in my garage for 10 mins it sounds quite corse and a bit "tappety". Once it's warm and I drive it, it's the normal wooshing and burbling etc. Is the nosiey start normal or do you think I should check for something, maybe upgrade to a Magnatec type of oil?

Thanks in advance.

The all alloy Impreza engine is quite tappety from cold, it's pretty normal. Until componants warm up and expand to running clearances, there will be a fair bit of valve clearance tap and injector ticking. A little bit of piston slap on a cold engine is also not unusual. As long as there is no definate knock or rattle, what you describe seems fairly normal.
