Default DIY Cambelt change, easy or not??

I am reasonably confident with a spanner and am happy to get stuck in and want to know if I should attempt the change myself?

I have a 97 STI and can get all the parts at a reasonable price through a mate in the trade and I fancy a bit of a challenge..should I bother or just splash some cash and let someone more qualified do it?

iv got to time mine soon as im rebuilding. it looks a straight forward job. just make sure it all turns over by hand before u start the key and after turned over check to make sure the timing marks are all still in line incase it jumps a tooth.

I managed to do it in about 4 hours (actual working time) on my 2003 WRX, and I'm by no means a super-mechanic. It was quite straight forward, apart from when my cams spun around, but got that sorted too by asking on here

If you're doing it yourself, remember to lock the two cams on the passenger side up somehow (i used some g-clamps with bits of silicon in the end)
