Bore Wash

Bore Wash
Hi,
I fitted 650cc injectors to my STI, I took the engine on a short drive and after approx. 10 mins it started misfiring and stalling, it had black soot coming out of the exhaust, I had to leave it parked up for a couple of hours before i could drive it home.
It has petrol mixed with the oil.
What are the chances that i have caused some serious damage to the engine due to Bore Wash?
Thanks

This is the first test drive i am talking about, I spoke to my mapper and he told me the oem ecu should be able to compensate for the mods... In this case it doesn't look like it can!
i am not driving the car around, it will be transported on a recovery truck.
I just wanted to know if i could have caused any serious damage to the engine?

If you haven't driven very far there shouldn't be any damage. PE 650cc injectors are too different in a number of ways for the OE ecu's closed loop fuelling to compensate without at least some basic mapping steps.

You shouldn't need to change the oil getting the oil up to temperature will quickly burn off the small amount of fuel in the oil. Unless of course your mapper wants to pay for the oil!

lol
the car was booked in with me ages for a remap but never got finished intime and has been post poned until next week.. I was sent a list of the mods but don't recall any mention of it driving or not until the thread Duncan mentioned and in theory it should drive off boost with larger injectors.. as it doesn't Haroon as sensibly organised a tow truck etc..
I suspect the change in maf housing has further altered things beyond which the standard map can cope etc..

Hi Simon,
Just out of interest, would you normally map a car from scratch with non-factory maf housing and non-factory injectors. From what I've seen elsewhere this can be tricky?
Cheers,
Paul

Past experiance helps, but educated guesses and evalute the result.
It can be worse when installing an after market ecu on a new engine when mods actually fitted the owner is unsure of or the trader has just fitted bits he was given and owner not with the car etc
All good fun
