Turbo wastegate solenoid?!
Morning all,
I've got a 54plate WRX, brought it 5months ago, i've since got bored of the speed and lack of noise so I brought myself a few bits and pieces.
It started off with a Dump valve,
Then a japcan back box,
Then a scooby clinic top mount intercooler,
Then 2months later my engine management light came on!
I took her down to geta dino test and it was reading the Turbo wastegate solenoid and was told I needed a new sensor so went to subaru to buy a new solenoid.
At this point I put a full decat system on the car with the engine management still showing!
I recieved my item from subaru and fitted the solenoid and reset the ECU.
Within 10minutes the light was back on again, so I went to get a dino test and the fault was Turbo Wastegate Solenoid even tho I had changed the soleniod?!
Hope this all makes sense, now could the Decat be setting the Solenoid light off again or is the brand new solenoid not the problem?!
Regards
Guy

First of all get rid of the DV..!
They do nothing for performance, in fact they can reduce performance, may be the cause of the cel to BTW..!
Having said that, if the cel illuminated 2 months after fitting it then it's unlikely to be causing cel. Still take it off however and refit the oem DV..
How did SW check this BTW..?
Finally, if you're looking for better performance, do a search on here first for the best route to go down for modding a WRX. That way you won't waste money on mods that do nothing..

Ok, dump valve removed now.
SW gave it a dianostics test (not sure how to spell it lol) and they came back with the turbo wastegate solenoid!
Just found a spot of oil on me garage floor will this have anything to do with it?!

Its not a fault with your wastegate solenoid. The ECU will display that fault if it can't control the boost properly. On the std car it correctly assumes there is a wastegate actuator or solenoid fault.
On a car with a modified exhaust the issue is that the std map cannot control the boost due to the decat making the turbo spool up quicker and boost higher.
You could bodge it with a boost controller but ideally it needs mapped to suit your mods.
