Default 97 Sti import Turbo Intake Pipe

hey guys..

went to fit my new turbo today and found the rubber turbo intake pipe has perished and split, the one that runs from the turbo inlet underneath the inlet manifold then goes to the maf sensor... do any companies do a replacment silicone version or is it a subaru o/e job? and what are these pipes like to change is it an inlet manifold off job as it looks very tight to get out??

cheers anth

Or if you wanna take a chance on a far east copy for a fraction of the price, then see here (cheapest I could find on eBay)...

cheers mate

F**k me £250 for some silicone pipe there havin a laugh lol.. a think i mite just take the risk with the ebay one and hope for the best... av heard this is a common fault on the imprezas for the pipe to perish and split on the turbo intake side??? am hopin with any luck if i replace with a silicone version i will be able to flex the new pipe enough to get it in place without removal of inlet manifold!!

thanks again fella

No worries.

Do a search re the fitting - I'm sure it'll tell you one way or the other.

If not, then try immersing it in a washing up bowl of boiling hot water with washing up liquid in, and then try to immediately get it into place. Don't know whether this works , but it's worth a try first I suppose...

(FTR, I have non-branded top and bottom silicone radiatir hoses (£20 for the two), and they're absolutely fine. )
