Default FRESH BLOCK HARD TO TURN OVER BY HAND.

can anybody give me some advice? i have been rebuilding my subaru sti block today,i have put in a new crank, bigends mains, had the block honed,i have reused the old pistons as they measured up ok,and fitted new piston rings. the block is bolted back together,i havnt fitted the oil pump or sump yet, i have put plenty of oil around the pistons and bearings, but when you turn it over by hand it seems quite hard to turn over, can anybody help?

Did each individual componant turn ok when being assembled? eg did the crank turn ok without the con rods fitted, each con rod move ok when assembled to the crank, camshafts turn ok etc

As JohnD stated above - was the crank free to turn when the block halves were torqued up?
The only resistance you should have is the piston ring tension on the bores.

Thirded, always rotate an engine at every stage....

I hope your bores were only glaze busted, if they were actually honed they will now be oversize for your pistons!

sorted the problem the piston rings what i ordered were the problem, one of the oil rings was oversize and had no gap in it when i checked it in the block, must of been packaged up wrong, luckly didnt damage the bores!
