Default Complete loss of power

I currently run a 2007 2.5lt GB270.

On Sat eve for the second time since I've owned the car, I experianced this.

Accelerating hard away from a roundabout a complete loss of drive/power happened, almost like I had hit the brakes or hit the rev limiter neither of which I did, am pretty sure.

The first time it did this was about 5 months ago and shortly after that say maybe a couple of thousand miles later the MAF sensor blew on me.

On both occasions the car was well warmed up as it was a long way into my journey.

The car runs fine after this initial loss of power and returns to normal.

Its not modded whatsoever on the engine side of thing's, just find it a bit strange

Any suggestion's would be gratefully accepted

Nige.

Hi, I had this same issue on my UK Turbo 2000 and I was worried it was really serious but having spoken to people on Snet it was suggested that it was 'fuel surge'. It seems that the only time it does it is when the car is showing around a quarter of a tank or less on fuel and accelerating away from sharp bends.

For me, it was a case of making sure I only accelerate hard from bends when the car is showing at least half a tank of fuel, and it shouldn't happen.

hope this helps

I was going to mention the fuel state as the incident on Sat eve I was returning home from Cambridge to the North East and I was down to the quarter tank level. The first time it happened I cant recall the fuel level.

Cheers

Try the same test but with a full tank and see if the problem goes away

by the way, the MAF sensor problem shouldn't be connected with this issue

Could the cause be 'boost creep' ?

Due to removing the resonator pipe ?

If it was Fuel Cut due to the car overboosting, you're likely to experience it even when driving at full throttle not round corners. i.e. if you're overtaking.

I'd still hazard a guess at fuel surge due to a lack of fuel when coming off tight bends
