Default Lowering

Hi, Im thinking about fitting a set of lowering springs to my wrx ra with a moderate drop of about 30mm. Would i have a problem with the wheels rubbing the arches? I have a set of 17inch rotawheels alloys on 205/40/17 tyres. And would i also hav to get my wheel alignment adjusted after fitting them?

thanks.

Shouldn't have any issues with rubbing, tyres seem a little small should be 215/40 or 205/45 17's.

And yes get a geometry check, after messing with suspension it'll probably be way out.

ok thanks. Wouldnt smaller tyres give more clearance for when its lowered though? So is it the tracking that would need adjusting?

If you're dropping by only about 20-30mm, I'm certain the tyres won't rub even at the recommended 215/40 R17 and 205/45 R17.

I have adjustable coilovers and it's lowered by about an inch (25mm) and I'm running even taller 215/45 R17 tyres, with no trouble.

Lowering the car lowers the centre of gravity and this causes the wheels/tyres to splay out at the bottom a little more (as you look at the car from the front or back). This is called negative camber and is, in fact, a good thing (within reason), as it keeps more of the outside loaded tyres' tread on the road when cornering! But, yes, I'd defo get a full geo setup i.e. camber and toe, from a specialist like Zen, etc...
