Is my turbo holding back? or is this normal?
Hi there, I have only owned my 2001 wrx a few months, I am fairly happy with the performance but I have noticed when the turbo spools up between about 3000-5000 the power delivery seems to be in small steps it this normal? Then towards 5000 the delivery becomes smoother. This is the same in every gear. Is this a normal thing or do I have problems?

Doesn't sound normal chap, the TD04 turbo on your car should spool really early and smoothly.
Might be worth cleaning your boost solenoid and pipes out to see if that helps first.
Do a search for it on here, it's been covered loads of times.

Ive been searching the forums for the last 10 mins and still cant find an answer. I wouldnt think of it as a serious problem more of a I would expect the power delivery to be smoother. So how would I go about cleaing the MAF sensor?
