Default Can an Engine still suffer DET??

Silly question time probably. BUT can an engine still DET after it,s been mapped??

Does it happen as much to new age Subarus like it does with the classics?? reason i,m really asking, you seem to see/read about alot of classics suffering from it and having BUILDS done all around the 50-60k mile mark, is this just coinsidence or is the engine getting tired etc then??

Are there ANY classics especially JDM cars that haven,t suffered from DET??

Depends how near the limit is has been mapped and how well its been mapped mate. Also what grade of fuel you have mapped it for and if you continue to use that grade etc.

In short, yes it can.

One of the saving graces for the newage cars is the ecu. It is very good and the knock control within it is very effective so when it does experience det, it works to protect itself within a set range.
