Default 2.5" centre section question (pops)

Hi,

I have just bought a 2.5" decat centre section for my MY99 UK Turbo. It already has a decat downpipe and a TSL Backbox with 4" tailpipe.

The car also has been remapped on an APEXI Power FC at 1.2 bar on its TDO4.

If I get the decat pipe swapped over from my catted centre section, then get the mapping tweaked, Is it possible that the car can then have flames/pops/bangs from the exhaust when accelerating?

Sorry for the millionth post on pops and bangs! After seeing other cars doing it on the tunnel run I'd like mine to do that too

Yep, full de-cat is what you need. Then the map can be tweaked to allow a little bit of fuel through on the overrun.

You'll need a flamer kit for big flames though

great! Thanks for the help. I'm glad I bought the decat pipe now

Big flames would be fun but I think I'd settle for some occasional small flames and pops/bangs instead

Is a full decat usually a bit louder than a partial decat too? It would be nice to have a louder exhaust note.

A car will normally flame when running slightly rich, especially with a VTA bov.

oh forgot about the vta dump valves. I'm planning on still using the recirculating OEM dump valve, hopefully I can still get flames using it?

I think they can map pops/bangs into ecu'tek mate and it works best with a recirc

You can get your mapper to tweak your existing map for pops and bangs, or do it yourself via the Commander. See here...

That thread is tempting but knowing me I'll ruin all my settings, so at some point I'll entrust a mapper such as JGM to do it.

Will get the decat centre fitted for now and will run it for a while to see how I get on! I might even get pops and bangs anyway!

I hope I don't need a VTA dumpvalve though
