AVO and ARC (virtually the same designs) did a bar and plate replacement with the same pattern - I know, as I have the ARC version waiting to go on .

The core on it is a bit deeper (I think) and, for any given core size, a bar and plate design is a tad more efficient than the OEM tube and fin ones... http://us1.webpublications.com.au/st.../1618_10mg.jpg.

But unfortunately, I don't think any slanty v.1/2 aftermarket ones are available anymore.

The best thing you can do is to fit the v.2 silver STi TMIC. Okay, so the core size is the same, but its rear end tank is a bit bigger and, moreover, it has a hard metal inlet pipe with a silicone hose attachment for the turbo's compressor outlet nozzle... http://us1.webpublications.com.au/st...6/1618_9mg.jpg. This pipe/hose combo has been found to be 50%!! less restrictive than the OEM horrible plastic one with it's very restrictive/disruptive corrugated flexi area.

See here for TMIC bench tests...

I have the STi 2 TMIC fitted and mapped... BUT... it will be coming off to make way for the ARC one mentioned. So, if you're interested ...
