I have a WRX with PPP so the intercooler has metal and silicon on the outlet of the intercooler if thats the pipes you where meaning, would i benifit in getting and uprated intercooler or does this only benifit you when you pass a certain power band.

It's definately wider, and probably deeper as well, been a while since I saw mine LOL !
No the pipe is the one underneath the IC that makes all the difference !
The surface area is part of the equation, it's the core volume that's greater allowing more cooling of the compressed air from the turbo, and yes only needed above(?) 350 bhp. Most new-age STI owners go for an FMIC at around 400 bhp.
