Default piston rod

iv been rebuilding my engine recently, i got to the stage of puting the rods back on the crank thing is 3 of them go on and turn smoothly but one (closest to flywheel) seems very stiff in comparison with the other 3, dose this mater or is their something wrong?

(impreza 1995 uk turbo)

cheers

Hard to say without seein it. When you got the 2 halfs of the block together can you turn the engine over by hand quite easily?

Dont chance it - take the rod off the crank again as it should turn freely - chances the bearings have picked up ( you normally see a score line on either of the bearing halfs).
Normally caused by a slight burr around the chamfered oil drilling.

I had the same with one of my rods. Took it off and there was a tiny nick in the crank journal that had raised a minute lip of metal. It ploughed the bearing shell straight away. I took the lip out with an oil stone, replaced the shells and all is well. Still to run the engine though
