Default Cranks

It will fit as Alan Jeffery has been in touch with me with regard to his 2.1 conversion.

The pistons will end up 4mm proud of the block if you don't change either the rods or pistons to suit the longer throw crankshaft.

There are rear thrust and centre thrust issues to be sorted as well.

£1700 for a short motor is great value, I'm almost ready to pull mine out !

The EJ257 STi crank will only fit into phase two on EJ20 blocks. It won't fit into the earlier phase one blocks with the centre thrust main bearing. These blocks will need machining.

The 2.5lt 79mm crank increase the compression height by 2mm, not 4mm, on the standard rods, and pistons.

There are several ways of stroking an engine. Generally stroker engines use longer rods, such as we do in the 2.35lt stroked engines. Longer rods reduce piston side loading, and piston weight, amongst other things.

Some stroker kits use a standard length rod, and just a lower compression height piston, and some just use a standard piston, and a very short rod. Neither are ideal.
