hi guys im going for a 2.5 build and i need your honest opinions i need your fact and figures graphs would be very much apreciated. im looking for the best turbo for a 2.5 something that will give me full boost by max 3500rpm or earlier and hold boost till about 7500rpm is that possible on a 2.5??? im looking to achieve around 470bhp and as much torque as possible. owners reviews would be appreciated, im aware of the md321t md321t plus the fp green and the fp green hta the gt30 is there anything thats in tat leauge?pub figures dont realy matter much to me mainly response and spool up as the car will be used mainly on the road. the occasional track maybe twice a year and mainly the 1/4 mile strip.
ver 4 type r i have all the supporting mods in place ppg. twin exedy , injectors etc.
the engine
EJ257 Semi closed deck block
79mm crank polished and balanced
ACL Race bearings

The best bolt on without question are the MD321T and T+.
These are proven time and time again and outspool any of the competition by quite some way.
They are without doubt THE best turbo for a road going 2.5.

So far 490 bhp on unboosted fuel but more to come when I get the map finished and I believe a fair bit more on higher octane fuel or with methanol/ethanol etc.
Once testing/development is finished then a full review will be published.

im currently runinng a 20G with reverse inlet manifold with 10% meth
i got 402 on dyno dynamics at 1.45 bar, on the road it hits 1.7. so the gt30 isnt what peeps are making out. could you run an external wastegate and screamer pipe with the md321t plus??

confusion reigns high in this thread.
OP needs to differentiate between a GT series GT30 from Garrett and a hybrid gt30 which used *******ised parts from IHI, Garrett and cadburys.
The gt30 hybrids do not make the power of a genuine GT30 or the fabled GT3076iirc (GT30R).
Every other turbo that makes 400bhp in the standard location claims to be a gt30
The genuine Garrett item needs a twisted setup with an external gate and screamer.
Standard fit gt30 hybrids are still internally gated.
The md321T is proven time and time again, the T+ has a little bit more to give but at a small cost.
The 321V is witchcraft and heresey
The md555 isnt proven sufficiently but is making good power and spool although early indications have been that they suffer from surge quite badly.
I have no personal experience of the FP green or red or purple or whatever other colour they are attaching to it this week but people who have run them have been quite vociferous in their defence.
I bought a brand new turbo not so long ago and with all these options available to me, I still plumped for an MD321T.

i just didnt see many people talking about the GT30 at the start of the thread so i thought that it wasnt in the same leauge as the md321t.
Its the league above
If you want an external wastegate and a screamer pipe go for a rotated GT30 or GT35 setup. Both will trounce the MD321T, T+ and dare I say it probably even the V.

An RB5 I have been involved with did 475 bhp and 434 ft lbs on Monday. (Dastek rollers at Northallerton)
2.5 l on MD321T very nice car.
A cheaper alternative would be the FP Green but I have no graphs for that but speak to Jase at Area 52 who has graphs he can send out to you.
Your goals are quite achievable in terms of power and spool on a 2.5.

This is the MD321V compared to the FP Green on mine.
Both runs on the dyno at Zen on unboosted pump fuel in 3rd gear.

Just to add a bit more info on this, the FP Green produced good figures for me and worked a treat but as you can see from the graph, the bigger ball bearing turbo gets going quicker and just keeps ahead. In theory it should be laggier but after now having had time to make changes to the map it outperforms it all the way up.

you will be suprised ash the property market aint doing so well thats why im going for a 2.5 otherwise i would of gone for 2.35.
and besides the 2.5 and ive been speaking to slowboy about some new ideas its gona be intresting.
on 2L i wouldnt take it above 450 even at 450 there are as laggy as anything once they get going they are great but you can get caught out so easily. i want a car thats a bullet on the road and responsive im happy to use meth again.
the only set back about the 2.5 is that they are not made for reving i think 7000rpm or 75000 max which i dont mind that much as im not one who like to rev the crap out of them. should be intresting
