Default Garrett oil restrictor

Anyone know what size oil restrictor (if any) should be fitted on a GT3076R, any help much appreciated?

I don't use a restrictor as such. I've used this banjo to the oil feed on the turbo and have done for around 7K miles without issue.

Hope that helps.

Nope that isn't either I've just been out and had a look.
I took the banjo out and had a look in the block and there's no restrictor there either.

I think I had the same concerns you did at the time. I vaguely remember having a conversation with Matt Clark about the issue. If I remember rightly he said the roller bearing will take what it needs and the rest just get returned to the engine.

Anyway that's how mine has been run no problems in 7k Miles at 1.4bar and 452 bhp. It will soon be seeing 2 bar once this current build is finished hence the easy photo taking!!

You generally find the restrictor at the turbo end iirc the smallest is 50thou.

We run a .8mm banjo with a filter unit from the cylinder head. Oil pressure entering the turbo should ideally be around 40-50 PSI at maximum RPM. Even though the turbo may be able to cope with the increased amount of oil flow it could affect how well the turbo performs.

My mate ran one with a restrictor and his bearing collapsed. Mine seems to be ok and achieved 452 bhp@ 1.4bar on a stock EJ257 Bottom end.

Will admit I could do with some sort of in line filtration though. Especially now I have a proper engine to bolt it to.

Don't suppose you have a part number for the turbo side banjo bolt do you?

It's the Banjo that bolts into the head upstream of the turbo oil feed.

Interesting timing of this thread, I was browsing NASIOC yesterday and found a thread where someone reported that they had "blown out the bearing seals" on a GT3076R because there was no restrictor in the oil line.

Andrew...

Thanks for the reply guys, that probably explains why my 3076 didnt last long either then. I have got a restrictor that came with my replacement but not measured it yet.
