Default Oil Service Schedule Q?

A person is selling a MY99 Impreza Turbo with very low mileage, he has only done 4.5k miles in 3 years but that was its last oil change, the oil is still brown/yellow colour and the car is mint. So in effect its been 3 years/4.5k miles since its last service. Even though its mint and everything looks fine, should one be worried and walk away based on the lenght of time its on the same oil. The mileage interval is fine but the time is a bit worrying. Thanks.

I would certainly do an oil/filter change as although the oil is little used, there could be some moisture absorbtion over that period of time of inactivity and it's possible that most journeys were short. Many of us on here do oil changes at that kind of mileage, irrespective of time span.
If the engine sounds fine, there's no reason to dismiss the car for that reason alone.
What is the total mileage of the car?

What money are you looking at paying for it? You may find something just as good on here for the same money & you'd hope most on here are enthusiast owned and have been cared for well.

isnt the schedule 12,000miles or 6 months whichever is sooner?
otherwise take something like a weekend toy that does 20/50 miles a week, it might only do 6000miles over a lifespan of 10 years, wouldn't want 10 year old oil in it
